Swedish electrification opens grid balance opportunities
ICIS (Independent Commodity Intelligence Services) describes how aggregators like Sympower are helping tackle power grid balancing issues in Sweden.
The rise of variable renewable energy production, the decommissioning of nuclear capacity and the increasing electricity demand have put a strain on the Swedish grid, leading the Transmission System Operator Svenska Kraftnat to launch fast frequency reserve (FFR) balancing in June.
