Demand response

Get paid to change your energy use

Your equipment has energy to spare. Sympower helps you identify, connect and monetise this energy flexibility on energy markets, allowing you to earn revenue for balancing the grid.

Calculate your potential earnings

Stay in control

You decide which assets can be activated and when. We work closely with your teams to identify which equipment can be utilised and which can't, guaranteeing that we don't disturb your core processes.

Start earning now

Most equipment can be used to balance the grid. We help you identify existing flexibility in your processes to maximise your profit while minimising interruptions.

Build your ideal solution

The more you participate, the more you earn! Increase your revenue by adding more resources or joining additional energy markets.

Demand response turns your energy into profit

Energy-intensive consumers earn additional revenue by temporarily adjusting their electricity consumption to keep the grid balanced and avoid blackouts.

Sympower enables companies to participate easily in demand response programmes by identifying flexibility potential in their current processes. We unlock the full potential of your equipment by monetising its flexibility in balancing markets and creating new revenue streams.

Can you participate in Demand Response?

Most energy-intensive equipment can be used for demand response services. If you meet some of the following criteria, you may be eligible for demand response participation.
  • icon-markets

    Existing buffer in processes

If your energy-intensive equipment doesn’t need to run at 100% all the time, then you have flexibility in your processes and can participate in demand response programmes.
  • icon-up-down

    Reactive equipment

If some of your equipment can ramp up or down its energy consumption on short notice, you may be able to participate in demand response programmes. Our energy experts help you identify which equipment can be used to earn revenue.

    Own production units

If you have your own energy production or storage units on-site, such as a CHP, solar panels, or even batteries, you can use them to balance the grid.

Our customers say

  • Johannes Sikström

The whole process is very straightforward

“The whole process is very straightforward. Ahead of time, we agree with Sympower on a timeframe during which our assets could be activated. When it happens, the process operator will see on their interface that FCR is being activated, and the mills slow down. It’s clearly marked why the mills are slowing down, so no one thinks something is wrong and tries to correct it.”

    This partnership works incredibly well

"This partnership works incredibly well, partly because Sympower and Bixia’s teams always have the customers’ best interest in mind. Our customers deeply appreciate this joint expertise, and many as a result want to increase their demand-side flexibility participation by connecting more assets or other factories. In fact, one of the sawmills we work with, which started by connecting just three mills, is now looking into integrating demand response to other sites."
