How FCR became a sustainable win-win for a Swedish data centre

Swedish data centre and the energy transition?

The growing use of renewable energy places new demands on the electricity system’s balance between electricity demand and supply, due to the intermittent nature of renewable energy resources. But through frequency regulation, electricity consumers can contribute to the stability of the power grid.

Boden Type data centre

Sympower and Vattenfall have helped the Boden Type data centre become Sweden’s largest demand-side Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR). This will make space for a growing share o in the Swedish energy mix, at the same time generating some extra revenue for the parties involved. Read more about it here.
