Oscar Karlsson, Sympower’s Business Developer in Finland, explains the benefits of Demand Response programs.
“We cooperate with customers, we create a solution together.” – said Oscar about Sympower’s work and the Demand Response program. Then, Karlsson continued: We optimise your energy usage in such a way that your process is not harmed. We are able to sell your flexibility or your energy consumption, to different markets. It means that we can make adjustments to your power consumption in such a way that it doesn’t harm your production.

When asked about Sympower’s solution and expertise, Oscar stated: I think we have quite good knowledge in different industries. We have also proven our success in many countries. Especially in Finland, we work with variously different industries, ranging from greenhouses, to paper and pulp. We also work with the steel industry in Sweden. We are familiar with battery projects and all sorts of different kinds of assets. I would say, that is our expertise: working with different industries, combining different ideas. The actual goal of how to implement the system is that the customer doesn’t realise they are participating in demand response. Sometimes it’s a bit confusing to the customer, we don’t invoice them. In Finland at least we operate in a way where we pay the customer. And I actually like to call them partners because we cooperate with them. Then we pay our partners.
