Business Development Manager

Sympower’s mission is to enable the transition to a fully renewable energy system.

Sympower is an international clean tech scale-up with offices in 5 different countries and 23 different nationalities. Sympower is growing fast and has recently been recognised as one of the Sprout Challenger 50 and one of the eleven scale-ups selected for the Techleap Rise programme, featuring tech scale-ups contributing to flattening the climate curve. Find out more about Sympower in this video. In the past year, we doubled in size from 20 to 45 employees in 5 different countries and planned to almost double again during this year while expanding into new countries. Sympower developed a software platform to balance the electricity grid and support a fully renewable energy system.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager for the Netherlands to join our international team! Do you have valuable competencies in business environments and want to become part of a growing mission-driven company? You can find below a more detailed description of the role.

About The Job

  • You will be based in the Netherlands as part of our international commercial team
  • You are passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology
  • You will be working with existing partners (e.g. energy consultants), discovering local opportunities, engaging with stakeholders and acting as the commercial representative of Sympower in the Netherlands
  • You will successfully develop partnerships and customer relations in the energy domain.
  • You will be responsible for the full sales cycle: from first contact with the counterpartners until the handover to implementation

What you’ll do:

  • Business development: jointly with our engineers and analysts, you will set up technical and financial cases for our customers
  • Present Sympower successfully to leads, partners and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with partners and build strong relationships
  • Prepare a smooth hand-over to implementation engineers
  • Be proactive in new advancements in our industry and advise Sympower on new product development

What you’ll need:

  • Educational background in energy, engineering and/or business
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in the energy domain
  • Fluent English, verbal and written
  • Fluent Dutch
  • Strong people skills & ability to build long-term partnerships
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid EU residence permit
  • Comfortable in an international, fast-paced, scale-up environment
  • Eager to take initiative and ownership

Good to have skills

  • Knowledge of flexibility solutions in electricity and/or heat/steam domain
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience in consultative selling
  • Alignment with our mission of contributing to the energy transition
  • Available for a minimum of 32 hours per week
