2013/2014

Sympower’s CEO Simon and his colleague Georg come up with the idea to start their own business during the Sustainable Energy Futures Master’s Program at Imperial College London.

2014

An entrepreneurship module inspired many (unrealistic) business ideas. The start of the company got postponed, yet not called off

2015

Simon and Georg decided to move to Estonia

Sympower is born!

 

Sympower was always destined to become international: the founding duo collectively either lived in or came from Estonia, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and France

2015

Sympower is chosen to attend the ClimateLaunchpad Bootcamp in Estonia. Sympower wins the ClimateLaunchpad competition in Estonia!

2016

Sympower extends its activities across Europe. Finland becomes the next active country

2017

Sympower moves its headquarters to Amsterdam after being selected to join the Rockstart Smart Energy Accelerator program

2017

Sympower raises €1M from the investment firm Enfuro Ventures and Angel Investors. The raised capital further founds Sympower’s international expansion and scaling-up the business.

Sympower raises €3 million in a Series A funding round from Dutch investment funds Social Impact Ventures, Participatiefonds Duurzame Economie Noord-Holland (PDENH), current investors and team participation.

Many achievements this year. Sympower’s team grows from 16 to 31 employees. We achieve market leadership in Finland, collaborate with Vattenfall and expands our activities to Sweden

2020

Sympower in the top ten scale-ups in the second edition of the CEE Scaleup Challenge by Vestbee – the biggest online competition for growing companies in Central & Eastern Europe

Sympower saves 72.350 tones of CO2 in 2020

2021

Kees Koolen, a Dutch investor, former chair of booking.com and current CEO of Koolen Industries invests 5.2M into the development of Sympower.
