Sympower and Vattenfall renew partnership

Sympower, a leading independent flexibility services provider, has extended its partnership for a further three years with the European energy utility giant – Vattenfall.

Working together with one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat, the renewed contract allows Sympower to provide continued grid balancing services in the Swedish market, while opening up further markets in countries such as Denmark.

Sympower’s expansion to Norway

We are excited to be live in another country with ancillary services. Together with our partner Vattenfall, we are providing the national grid operator Statnett SF with 58MW of flexible capacity (FFR, Fast Frequency Response).

With an increasing share of renewables in the nordic electricity system, demand response can play an important role in efficiently stabilising the grid.

Sympower raises EUR 5.2 million

Sympower has raised EUR 5.2 million from Kees Koolen, the former CEO of Booking.com and an early investor and advisor of Uber, as well as existing investors Rubio Impact Ventures, PDENH, Enfuro Ventures and Casper Peeters.

The funds will be used to further rollout Sympower’s platform and services across Europe, enabling the company to launch in attractive growth markets.
